Activity – Word Long Document 3: Consolidate your skills

[This section should take you around 20 minutes to complete]

This activity gives you the opportunity to practice what you have learned so far which are skills you will be demonstrating when you complete assignment 3. Please upload the completed activity Word long document 3 to the Learnline submission point with Assessment 3.

    1. In Learnline open your TEP021 unit.
    2. Go to Weeks 7-9 in ‘Learning Materials’, then click to open Week 7.
    3. Click to download TEP021 Word Activity Long Document 3 to your computer.
    4. Double-click the downloaded file to open it.
    5. Click the File tab and select Save As to save the document as YourName StudentNumber TEP021 Word Long Document  3 in your OneDrive folder.
    6. Set the Margins: Top: 3 cm, Bottom: 2.5, Left: 2.5 cm and Right: 2.5 cm.
    7. Change the colour of all headings to black by selecting a black & white style set.
    8. Modify the Normal style to: Times New Roman, 12pt, Left alignment, double line spacing, 0pt before and 12pt after paragraph spacing.
    9. Apply the modified Normal style to all paragraphs.
    10. Apply Title style to the main heading (document title).
    11. Apply Heading 1 style to all paragraph headings.
    12. Insert a new page at the beginning of the document and make it a coversheet of your own design with the following information:

          Unit Code:
          Unit Name:
          Activity Name:
          Due Date:
          Student Name:
          Student Number:

14. Insert another page at the end of the coversheet.
15. Using the Word built-in feature, create a Table of Contents (TOC) with dotted lines and page numbers on the new page.
16. Change the document language to Australian English.
17. Add a header with your name and student number on the left, and date on the right.
18. Add a footer with the filename on the left using Quick Parts field and a page number on the right (use a simple page number format instead of Page X of Y).
19. Make sure that NO header and footer appears on the coversheet and TOC page, the page numbers should start with page 1 on the third page.
20. Proofread your document and insert page breaks where necessary so that there are no “orphan headings”.
21. Check spelling to ensure that there is no spelling errors.
22. Update the TOC so that the page numbers in the table are accurate.
23. Save and close the document.
24. Proceed to next Pressbook page: ‘Proofreading’.
