Activity – PowerPoint 2: Presentation tips continued…

[This section should take you around 30 minutes to complete]

In this activity, you will explore how to present information effectively within the PowerPoint.

You will continue with the presentation document Your Name TEP021 PowerPoint 1, which you have been working on. Open it if you have closed it.

 1. Click the File tab and then Save As.

2. Change the file name to Your Name TEP021 PowerPoint 2 and save it in the Documents folder on your computer.

3. Click Save.

4. Click the thumbnail of the second slide to select it.

5. Click the New Slide icon to add a new slide and change the slide layout to “Title and Content”.

6. Create slides 3 – 6 with the following text:

 

Slide 3 Presentation Preparation

  • Collect and arrange material
  • Allocate one topic per slide
  • Approximately 3 key points per slide

Slide 4 Making It Look Good

  • 10 lines maximum per slide
  • Do not use all uppercase
  • Avoid the overuse of italics, shows, bold, and colour formats

Slide 5 Before the Big Moment

  • Check projection equipment and learn controls
  • Position projector and screen for optimal viewing
  • Plan for equipment failure
  • Produce extra handouts

Slide 6 Verbal Presentation Tips

  • Ensure slides match spoken text
  • Speak clearly and use simple language
  • Use pauses for effect
  • Use examples the audience can relate to

7. Enhance your slides with ClipArt, AutoShapes, pictures, etc.

8. Ensure that each slide has slide Transitions and Animation schemes.

9. Play your slides to preview.

10. Save and close your presentation document.

11. Upload both Your Name TEP021 PowerPoint 1 and Your Name TEP021 PowerPoint 2 to your TEP021 folder on OneDrive.
