SITXCCS010 – Provide Visitor Information
13 A library of links
There is a lot of information that a Kakadu Tour guide needs to know, be familiar with, or know how to access. An experienced guide will need to know this information very well. For now you need to learn it well enough to successfully complete the assessments and activities provided and have an awareness that there is an expectation that Kakadu Tour Guides strive to continually grow their knowledge base.
Below are a series of links that provide a significant amount of assessable information. They include:
- Information on the National Park itself, information about holiday planning and the visitor centres; wildlife including crocodiles; aboriginal languages; geology; and several individual locations of interest around the park;
- Initial guidance on what and how to develop and maintain cultural sensitivity, because the way information is provided is important in Kakadu, not just what information is provided.
- Information on exploring Kakadu; minimising environmental impacts; developing an awareness of risks for recreational visitors; and other information on bird watching, hiking, fishing and cultural values.
