Introduction

Any Learning Management System (LMS) that is “fit-for-purpose” must be able to support certain learning and teaching requirements within the context of the specific higher education institutional offerings.

At CDU, we offer educational programs spanning both higher education degrees and training and further education (TAFE), with up to 70% of our students electing to study online and at a distance.

When we went about selecting our preferred LMS, potential vendors were presented with scenarios that matched our context and also addressed emerging trends such as short courses, microcredentials and generative artificial intelligence. We offer and share these scenarios for your own use, refinement or repurposing.

The eight scenarios include:

  1. New educator teaching students in multiple locations
  2. Large student enrolment
  3. Student progression
  4. VET / TAFE scenario
  5. AI and the LMS
  6. System administration scenario
  7. Short courses in the LMS
  8. STEM and the LMS
