5 AI and the LMS

Demonstration, artificial intelligence (AI) and the LMS (vendor-specific response)

Context

When OpenAI released its chatbot ChatGPT last year proponents were quick to announce the demise of several writing-related fields, such as screenwriting, computer programming, and music composition. One field however stood out as a sector that would feel the power of ChatGPT almost immediately: education.

With ChatGPT’s technology, there is some expressed concern that students can now easily cheat on assessments, papers, university admissions processes, and essays. Equally, some argue that educators can also outsource their curriculum and content to AI—and no one would be the wiser.

If leveraged well however AI will make a significant difference to the learning environment and offers opportunities for intelligent tutoring, adaptive and personalised learning, smarter classrooms, and learning analytics.

Your task

  1. How do you imagine AI will be integrated into the LMS of the future to support learning and teaching?
  2. Can you outline any developments on your roadmap that demonstrates your intentions, specific applications, commitment, and areas of use of AI in the LMS (e.g. learning tools, rapid content creation, assessment)?
