7 Short courses in the LMS

Demonstration, short course / microcredential delivery and payment gateway (vendor-specific response)

Context

Institutions around the world are offering more in the way of short courses (such as microcredentials, etc) that can be completed as self-paced.

These typically can be accessed on-demand by learners and upon completion provide the learner with a badge/merit or award. This style of self-paced short course often will consist of interactive content and quizzes that can be completed by learners in the own time but also provide feedback to learners to ensure they meet the intended outcome of the course.

This system would, like other Units, align with the student management system and may also have a payment gateway to allow quick access to the short course. But in other instances, it may need to align with the university’s payment gateway and course catalogue.

Your task

  1. Demonstrate how your LMS solution can be used to support this style of short course and its capability to issue a badge/merit or award on completion.
  2. If your solution requires the integration of a third-party tool to issue a badge/merit or award, please describe and/or outline the solution and process.
  3. Describe how your solution may align with the university student management system, payment gateway options and capability to configure a course catalogue.
