Activity – Excel 4: Creating a budget

Creating a budget in Excel

[This section should take you around 30 minutes to complete]

  1. Start a new Excel workbook.
  2. Save the file as YourName StudentNumber DigiPrep Excel4.xlsx in the documents folder on your computer.
  3. Create a weekly budget spreadsheet using the information below.
  4. Newspaper at $2.20per day from Monday to Friday. $2.80 each for Saturday and Sunday.
  5. Milk at $4.75 every day.
  6. Personal spending $35.00 per day from Monday to Friday. $50.00 each for Saturday and Sunday.
  7. Bread at $3.70 per loaf on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
  8. General Groceries – $200.00 on Thursday.
  9. Football – $25.00 on Saturday (not included in personal spending).
  10. Lunch – $18.00 each from Monday to Friday.
  11. Click the File tab and then Save As to save the spreadsheet as YourName StudentNumber DigiPrep Excel4.xlsx in the OneDrive folder on your computer.
  12. Calculate the weekly cost of each listed item, daily total spending, and the total cost of a week.
  13. Apply a Table Style of your choice.
  14. Insert a header with your name and student number on the left and the date on the right.
  15. Insert a footer with the file name on the left and the page number on the right.
  16. Ensure the table does not split over two pages by adjusting the column widths, switching to Landscape orientation, or both.
  17. Close your workbook
  18. Upload the completed activity document to your DigiPrep folder on OneDrive.
