44 Leaf Colour

As you have seen, not only do leaves have different shapes, margins, etc., but they are also different colours.
Concolourous– if the leaf is the same colour on both sides.
Discolourous– if the leaf is a different colour underneath – usually lighter.

Overall leaf colours range from mid-green to dark greens, lime green, burgundy and yellow. Other colours of leaves are:
•Glaucous (from the Latin glaucus, meaning “bluish-grey or green”, from the Greek  glaukós) -used to describe the pale grey or bluish-green appearance of the leaf.
•Alba – white
•Aurea – golden, yellow
•Variegated-is a leaf which contains mostly green and non green parts (red/pink/yellow/ purple/white etc.)
