2 Characteristics of plants vs. animals

Initially, people separated all living things into two groups: plants and animals. Mama lama with baby in a field

 

Science has discovered that no single difference separates ALL plants from ALL animals, however the differences that distinguish most plants from most animals are:

Most plants: Most animals:
manufacture their own food from soil, minerals, water and air ingest plants, fungi or other animals or animal products
contain chlorophyll contain no chlorophyll
contain cellulose in cell walls contain no cellulose in cell walls
are stationary are able to move themselves, either as juveniles or adults
have an unlimited growth scheme have a limited growth scheme
