Equally important, is to do some test screenings and see what people think of your film. Try and watch it with them. You might find you see it through their eyes completely differently! What are their reactions?
Test Audience Screening and Feedback:
- Organize a test screening with a selected audience to gather feedback on the film’s storytelling, impact, and comprehension.
- Provide clear instructions to the audience on how to provide constructive feedback through surveys, discussions, or written evaluations (you may even want to give them the list of SER2025 Film Festival Judging Considerations from which to give you feedback).
- Encourage participants to share their thoughts on the narrative, character development, pacing, and overall emotional engagement
Evaluate Feedback and Make Changes:
- Carefully analyze the feedback received, paying attention to recurring patterns or consistent areas of praise or criticism.
- Consider the feedback objectively, weighing audience expectations against your creative vision.
- Identify areas where the film can be improved, focusing on changes that enhance storytelling, character development, or audience connection.
You will likely find that your final edits and screening will make you want to make further rounds of changes to your edit. You might even want to screen it again to the same or different people. Simply rinse and repeat your technical and audience checks until you are happy!
