Part A. Project Overview
So you want to make a film?
So you have decided that you would like to make a short film about an ecological restoration project. It may be a project that you have been involved with for some time or perhaps it is an ecological restoration (ER) project in which you have a keen interest and would like to investigate and share further. As with any ER project of this type, there is undoubtedly a huge range of factors and aspects involved: people, locations, ecosystems, environmental organisations, government agencies, academics, researchers and more.
Before you look to find story threads that might work through this web of involvement, it can be a useful exercise to brainstorm a mind map that details many of these aspects, with both some detail and over-arching information. As we move on to find the story that we want to tell, we can then continue to reference and annotate this mind map.
Using the free digital whiteboard software Miro, brainstorm the features and key aspects of your ER project to build a mind map which can help you find the story of your project. We recommend using a template such as the S.C.A.M.P.E.R template (but not the method associated with it) to map out your project. The image below shows you how to find the S.C.A.M.P.E.R template, or search the miroverse of templates more generally.
Share the link to your Miro board in the Padlet below for your peers to view. Look at other students’ Miro boards and provide feedback on what you find most interesting about their ER project from their Miro boad and why. What is most provocative about their project?
